Principle-Based vs Identity-Based
If I am elected to the school board, I will strongly advocate for and encourage our schools to move away from identity-based approaches in their thinking. The DeRute training program MPSD spent $42,000 on is an example of this thinking, as the training 30 administrators received specifically targeted “whiteness”. Identity-based approaches advocate to treat people differently based on traits like skin color, gender, sexuality and religion. This is discrimination.
I would strongly advocate for and encourage a principle-based approach in our thinking and interactions with one another.
If you agree that all students and members of our community deserve to be loved and respected without discrimination of any kind vote two Matts and a Tony April 5th!
